THE SHORT ANSWER
Publish a separate edited copy that shows the product and removes private labels, account details and unrelated people’s information. Review the exported file at full size, not just the editing preview, before attaching it to a public post.

1. Decide what the public photo needs to show
Start with the question your image answers. If you are showing the colour of a hoodie or the shape of a bag, the parcel label is usually unnecessary. Frame the item on a plain surface and keep paperwork outside the picture. A smaller amount of irrelevant information makes the post clearer as well as easier to review.
Reddit’s help page says not to publish personal information and specifically addresses identifiable details in screenshots. Apply that principle to your own editing workflow and to other people who appear in a photograph or conversation. Our illustration is an original checklist for a parcel image, not a real shipping label.

2. Check the whole label, including machine-readable areas
Inspect every visible side of the package. Cover the recipient name, address, telephone number and private order or parcel reference when they are not needed in a public post. Review barcodes and QR codes too: do not assume the information represented by a code is safe just because it is not written as ordinary text.
The mock label below contains no personal information and no working code. Its marked areas are reminders of what to inspect in your own photograph. Keep useful product details visible where possible, but prioritise an image that can be shared without exposing the order record.

Keep the useful context.
Show the item and the detail your post discusses.
- Product colour or visible feature
- Your specific question
- A source you can share publicly
Review the background and every image in the album too.
3. Look beyond the main photograph
An order screenshot may include a profile name, balance, delivery address, email address, payment reference or a conversation header. Crop to the relevant product area and review the rest. Check browser tabs, notification banners and any thumbnail previews that remain in the screenshot.
In a room photograph, check reflections, background documents and other people. For an album, repeat the review for every image; editing the cover photo does not change the other files. If an image adds little to the post and takes extensive editing to share appropriately, use a clearer replacement.
- Package: inspect labels on every visible side.
- Screenshot: review account panels, headers and notifications.
- Background: review documents, reflections and other people.
- Album: check each attachment independently.
4. Export a separate copy and reopen it
Keep the original privately and prepare a separate public copy. Crop unnecessary areas or replace sensitive text with a solid opaque block. Do not rely on a thin brush stroke, a translucent highlighter or a loose blur when text is still recognisable. Make the replacement extend beyond the complete text or code area.
Export the edited result as a new image and reopen that file in an ordinary viewer. Zoom in to inspect the edges and confirm that the intended details are absent. Check any location information exposed by your photo-sharing workflow as well; do not assume every destination handles image metadata in the same way.
5. Review the attachment and the caption together
Attach the public copy, then inspect the posting preview before submitting. Make sure you did not accidentally select the original beside it. Read your caption too: a clean image does not help if the text underneath repeats a private address, reference number or another person’s contact details.
A public forum is different from a private support conversation. Keep the public version focused on the item; use a verified support channel for account-specific information when it is actually needed. If you notice a mistake after posting, edit or remove the affected content promptly, while recognising that a public copy may already have been seen or saved.
Your checklist
- Show only the product information the post needs.
- Inspect names, addresses, contacts, private references and codes.
- Review backgrounds and every screenshot or album image.
- Reopen the exported public copy at full size.
- Check the final attachment and caption together.
Common questions
Is hiding the written address enough?
Review the whole image, including private references, machine-readable codes, account panels and background details. The address is only one possible source of information.
Should I upload my original order screenshot?
Prepare and inspect a separate public copy containing only the details your question needs. Keep the original for your private records.
Does this page upload or edit my photos?
No. This is an illustrated editorial checklist. No photo upload or editing service is provided here.
